Risk vs. Results: Does play + recovery time + pay = perfect?
Cosmetically speaking, what does this mean and how does it apply to you? At our aesthetic dermatology practice, we offer anti-aging treatments at every level. Every financial level, pain level, and desired outcome level.
What Kind Of Anti-Aging Treatments Do You Offer?
What Should I Expect When Undergoing One Of These Treatments?
Your amount of “downtime,” or the number of days you’ll need to recover, depends on the level of correction needed and your budget. The big picture is, we want you to get the beautiful results you desire with the least amount of recovery time at the best possible cost. We especially want you to have realistic expectations about your esthetic results, as well as be happy with how you look compared to what you invested in time and money.
It Doesn’t Have To Be Expensive
You may have heard the saying, “no pain, no gain!” Or, “if you wanna play, you gotta pay!”
These are “all or nothing” comparisons and they do not apply to aesthetics. There are a variety of beauty “problems” and many aesthetic choices and solutions.
For example, consider a patient who has wrinkles between their eyebrows, the infamous “11” lines. The treatment for this beauty issue can be Botox/Dysport (any of our neurotoxins), microneedling, or laser resurfacing.
The treatment is dependent on the level of severity of the wrinkles, the elasticity of the skin, the skin type(lighter vs darker), or even the age of the patient. Then, factor in the budget the patient has in mind and any recovery time associated with the chosen treatment, and you will have quite a few courses of action!
Another example, consider a patient who has aging skin with a lot of wrinkles and skin laxity, also known as loss of elasticity in the skin. This is the perfect candidate for a full laser resurfacing. This procedure, however, has a week to 10 days of downtime and a price point of a few thousand dollars.
The results are amazing, but not every patient has the downtime or the funds for this procedure. In that situation, there are less invasive procedures like microneedling with radiofrequency and cosmetic fillers. The patient would get improvement in the skin elasticity, some wrinkle reduction, and some volume and fullness in areas that are sunken or flat.
Perhaps this patient chooses another route, a photofacial, which is a Broadband Light (BBL) treatment. With this remedy, we improve the color of the skin by reducing brown spots and red vessels, as well as improving the texture of the skin by building collagen over time. This treatment has minimal downtime, as you can return to your daily activities immediately with a bit of sunscreen and makeup. So, we would have a patient that is happy with how they look, has not lost any days at work or with family, and has stayed within their budget.
